SACRAMENTS AND RIGHTS
The church is the center for all of life’s passages. The St. Michael’s community offers every member love, care and support during life’s celebrations and its sorrows.
BAPTISM
Welcoming the new into a life with Christ — whether they be babies or adults — is among the most important sacraments of the church. As Christ Himself was baptized, so may all be who wish to enter into a new relationship with Him. Infant and adult baptisms are held throughout the year.
St. Michael’s members are welcome to register their children or grandchildren for baptism. When a baptism date has been selected, parents must participate in “The Faith” classes, taught by the clergy.
Register your child for baptism below. Once your child is registered, you will be contacted about the next available date. For more information, please contact our Director of Parish Care, Robin Kennedy.
While we don’t allow flash photography during the baptismal service, our photography team will make every effort to capture the moment for you whenever possible. Photos of parents, child and Godparents will be taken during rehearsals, which are at 9 a.m. on the day of the baptism.
All adults seeking baptism should contact Robin Kennedy for an appointment with the Rector.
CONFIRMATION
Confirmation for Youth and Adults is scheduled once a year, usually in the spring. Youth must be in 8th grade or older and participate in a year-long confirmation curriculum.
Adults who wish to be confirmed must participate in our Intro To St. Michael’s and The Faith series of classes, held in the fall and spring.
For Youth and Adult Confirmation, contact Robin Kennedy
WEDDINGS
Members of St. Michael’s and the children of members are welcome to celebrate their wedding with us. Couples wishing to marry at St. Michael’s must contact Parish Life Coordinator, Robin Kennedy, who will schedule a meeting with a priest. Couples may not set a date until after that initial meeting. We do not perform weddings during Advent or Lent.
For more information about weddings, please read our booklet: Weddings at St. Michael’s.
You may pick up a copy in the office of Robin Kennedy or read the online version.
FUNERALS
Christian burial is a service of blessing and celebration of the life of the deceased. Our clergy and pastoral care committee are available for counseling and pastoral care in times of need. If a loved one dies, it’s important to notify the church as soon as possible, so we can provide you with planning, care and support.
We provide an end-of-life planning guide, The Omega File, as a permanent place to list your service plans.
Contact our Parish Life Coordinator, Robin Kennedy or call her at 919.782.0731, ext. 112.
BURIAL GARDEN
The St. Michael’s Burial Garden was established in the 1980s as the first burial garden at an Episcopal Church in the City of Raleigh. Parishioners may reserve space for in-ground urns or in the walled columbarium. Graveside committals are held for loved ones being buried in the garden.
